As a young woman, I was lost, unsure of what to pursue academically or professionally.

After earning a travel & tourism diploma, I started working at the head office of an airline company. After a short while, I became disenchanted with my job, so I eventually resigned. From there, I took one dead-end job after another, unsure what path to pursue, but the one thing that brought me happiness was uplifting others. Helping others gave me a sense of purpose when I felt I had none. It also distracted me from my own worries and problems.

I have participated in many events that raise awareness for and support various causes. I’ve volunteered at various charity and non-profit organizations such as; The Black Creek Community Farm, The Children’s Breakfast Club, and Endometriosis Events. My longest volunteer role was in a hospital, working in the Emergency Department.

My adventure into artmaking

The remarkably transformative power of art

It wasn’t until much later in life, during a health crisis, that my childhood passion for arts and crafts became unexpectedly reignited. I eventually decided that I needed a space where I could share my creations, my health journey and encourage others to keep going no matter what challenges they face.

So, I created The Crafty Cavern.

Apart from self-directed explorations, I’ve studied at George Brown College and the Toronto School of Art. I’ve taken courses, classes and workshops in sewing, photography, metal clay, and needle felting.

I’m often up till the wee hours, experimenting with various mediums and materials. The act of creating is a calming and therapeutic experience for me. When I am in my creative space, I feel a deep sense of comfort and fulfilment.
