These wooden pendant diffusers are a rustic alternative to synthetic air fresheners and are very easy to make! They’re great for placing inside your car, office or any space where you’d like to enjoy a subtle scent.

Simply place a couple drops of your favourite 100% pure essential oil to the back of the wooden discs. For a stronger fragrance, feel free to add a few more drops.

I recently purchased a batch of wooden discs online and had initially planned to use them for another project, but decided to repurpose them instead.

When making these diffusers, use beech, cedar or pine wood, and make sure the wood is unfinished, unsealed and untreated.

I drilled a small hole in the wood with a pin vise, then used a floral stamp and stamped it onto the wood using StazOn solvent ink.

I applied 2 coats of Deco Art’s triple-thick gloss glaze for added shine.

Afterwards, I threaded twine string through, and tied a couple of knots to secure it.

I added a few drops of cedarwood essential oil on the back of the wooden discs.]

Applying the essential oils to the back prevents the oils from dissolving the ink or discolouring the sticker on the front. Don’t oversaturate the wood as it may seep through to the front.

You can also use stickers or die-cut designs.

I adhered them to the wood with Elmer’s glue.

The scent can last a few days to a week.
